Sleeping naked may not be the first thing you think of when it comes to improving your health, but there are some benefits that shouldn’t be overlooked. Sleeping naked is so easy to experiment with, it’s time to take off your clothes and take a nap. For your health, that is.

As you can see, sleeping naked has many benefits. You may have heard of some of these, but others may surprise you.

  1. Sleep faster
Your body temperature is one of the keys to how you sleep. It’s actually part of your circadian rhythm, a biological rhythm that acts as your body’s sleep “time.”

Cooling down signals your body that it’s time to sleep, so sleeping naked and lowering your body temperature can help you fall asleep faster.

  1. Improves sleep quality
Cooling the body not only helps you fall asleep faster, but also improves the quality of your sleep. The ideal temperature for your bedroom is 60-67°F (15-19°C).

A 2012 study by the National Institutes of Health found that the temperature of your bedroom is one of the most important factors in getting a good night’s sleep.

If it’s too cold or too hot, your eyes may move too quickly and risk affecting sleep, the stage of sleep that helps your brain and body recover. Sleeping naked is one way to stay awake under the covers.

  1. Keep the skin healthy
Because sleeping naked helps improve your sleep quality, which improves your skin. One small study looked at whether poor sleep limited the ability of small skin wounds to heal.

They divided the participants into three groups: one getting “enough” sleep, one with insufficient sleep, and a third with no sleep but supplemental nutrition. What they found was that the group that slept well recovered faster than the other two groups. And supplements? It did not make a significant difference in how quickly the wound healed.

It shows that getting enough sleep can help your skin recover and stay healthy, and sleeping naked is even better.
