Before we start learning how to grow hair fast, it is helpful to know how to grow hair fast so that we understand what to expect.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, scalp hair grows an average of 1 cm per month. This means that the average person can grow 4-5 inches of hair per year.
The rate at which your hair grows depends on genetics and follicle shape – Asian hair tends to have the thickest and coarsest hair on average compared to Caucasian and African hair.
1 cm of hair growth per month sounds like a lot… so why doesn’t it feel like it? Excessive styling, poor diet, and poor hair care can lead to split ends and breakage, all of which can shorten the length of your hair.

Is your hair not growing? It’s not just the decision to stop growing – there are many factors that slow down hair growth. Try to avoid the following.
- Too fashionable
We all want beautiful hair, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of our hair’s health.
If you use heat tools such as hot irons or hair dryers on a daily basis, try to reduce them. Heat weakens your hair, so simply alternating or going one day without heat can dramatically improve the condition of your hair.
If you must use heat, dry your hair with a soft towel until it is 60% dry and use a blow dryer on medium heat.

- Improper nutrition
As with most things in health and beauty, diet plays a big role in not only the condition of your hair, but also the rate at which it grows.

When it comes to hair products, sometimes less is more. Some oils can help with hair health and growth, while others can do more harm than good.
Just don’t use anything on your hair – harsh chemicals can dry out hair and slow down hair growth.
